COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

‘Developing Community with Vision & Integrity’

Sound West Group was founded by locals to the Puget Sound region.  We believe that development needs to reflect the character and culture of the people who call this place home and appreciate the rich history that makes this region unique.

‘Developing Community with Vision and Integrity’ is more than just a business tagline. It is the driving force at the heart of SWG’s activities in the Puget Sound region.

We welcome and respect people of all beliefs and traditions. We are called to partner with the communities we serve to improve the quality of life for everyone and in this spirit, we are pleased to be a transformative force for improvement in our region.

INVOLVEMENT IN LOCAL GROUPS & ORGANIZATIONS

Sound West Group and its employees donate time and money to causes throughout Kitsap County including the Armed Forces Day Parade and Rock the Dock summer concert series in downtown Bremerton, United Way and the Eastside Baby Corner in the West Puget Sound, the North Kitsap Rotary and Viking Tour in Poulsbo, the Winter Wonderland event in downtown Bainbridge Island, the AVID program at Bremerton High School, and many other causes throughout Kitsap County.

ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY

In each of our development projects, Sound West Group strives to find a way to engage the local community, whether it is donating a 1-acre park as we did at Bainbridge Landing or allocating 40 of the 128 single family home lots to Housing Kitsap’s “Self-Help” Program as we did at Summerset.

With a grand vision of revitalizing Fourth Street between Washington & Pacific Avenues in Downtown Bremerton, SWG purchased three old empty commercial buildings and the historic Roxy Theatre in downtown Bremerton with the aim of revitalizing the 1941 local theater.

After a $10+ Million dollar investment, the Roxy Theatre is now back up and running showing film and live shows. In addition, there are 27 new downtown apartments overlooking Fourth Street along with a public self storage facility with 191 storage units. SWG sees this area of downtown as a “funky and hip” location that is ripe for millennials to move into, with the Roxy as a “critical piece” to enliven Fourth Street come alive again.  In addition to other potential uses, local community groups will be able to use the theater for events and get togethers. With this private investment came a public investment by the City to revelop Fourth Street into Quincy Square, a public square in the center of downtown where art & culture merge.

AWARDS & COMMUNITY RECOGNITION

In 2019, Sound West Group was recognized for its work in a range of areas supporting our community and the Kitsap County Peninsula.

At the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) 2019 Annual Meeting, Sound West Group CEO, Wes Larson, was honored with the Private Sector “Economic Development Champion” award for his efforts in economic development in our community. Also in 2019, GlobeSt.com awarded SWG’s Marina Square development in downtown Bremerton their 2019 Adapt Award for the “Top Economic Revitalization and Social Impact” Opportunity Zone project. The OZ Zone project fulfills a need for the City of Bremerton, but also meets investor expectations while facilitation a positive impact for the community.
