A joint venture of Sound West Group and Olympic Property Group have started Bainbridge Landing, a multifamily complex at 259 Ferncliff Ave. N.E. on Bainbridge Island. It will have 107 apartments, seven lofts and 18 for-sale townhomes. One acre of open space on the 4.8-acre site will be a neighborhood park, preserving historic trees brought to the area more than 100 years ago by Robert Cave. The Bainbridge Landing website says Cave brought red oak, sycamore and elm seedlings from Kew Gardens in London and planted them at the Ferncliff site.

Apartments will come in studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, ranging from about 500 to 1,500 square feet. The lofts will be about 900 square feet, and townhomes will have about 1,400- 1,600 square feet of living space in two levels, above two-car garages at street level. Residents will have a 5-minute walk to the ferry terminal or downtown Winslow. They also will have access to a bicycle lounge with work and wash stations, a pet wash and grooming station, gym with yoga studio, and rooftop lounge with barbecues and ice bins. A “hangout” room will have a billiards table and beer taps.

Parking will be provided for 114 vehicles.

The project is designed for LEED gold and will open in early 2019. Tenants are expected to be a mix of tech workers with young families and empty nesters.

Here is the project team: Compass General Construction, general contractor; Wenzlau Architects, designer; Saez Consulting Engineers, civil engineer; Lund Opsahl, structural engineer; Perrone Consulting, geotechnical engineer; Katy Bigelow, arborist; Fischer Bouma Partnership, landscape
architect; Alpine Start Consulting, sustainability; and Heath & Associates, traffic.

Olympic Property Group is a subsidiary of the timber company Pope Resources and is headquartered in Poulsbo. Sound West Group is a Bremerton-based developer of residential and commercial properties.
