The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties (YMCAPKC) will open a new express location at Marina Square on the Bremerton waterfront tomorrow.

Developer Sound West Group opened the $140 million Marina Square development in 2023. The project transformed a former parking lot into a destination waterfront location with 270 apartment units and short-stay rentals housed in two mid-rise towers and just under 13,000 square feet of retail space.

YMCAPKC has signed a five-year lease with SWG for a 2,067-square-foot space in the development at 240 Washington Ave., Suite 400.

The new Express YMCA will be an adult-only, 18+ facility. It will offer state-of-the-art strength training and cardio equipment. Members can also use Marina Square outdoor spaces for seasonal group classes and will be able to take in sweeping waterfront and boardwalk views as they work out.

While this is an express location, individuals who become members at the Marina Square YMCA will also have access to the nearby Bremerton Family YMCA, which offers expanded programming such as daily group exercise classes and a large swimming pool.

A ribbon-cutting celebration for the express location will be hosted on opening day from 1-2 p.m. Attendees will be able to tour the new facility.

The Y will be the second tenant to open at Marina Square and joins a market serving typical convenience store offerings, managed by Harris Retail Group, which opened last year. SWG has also signed a local restaurant tenant for the development. Tenant improvements for that project are expected to start soon with the new restaurant anticipated to open either next summer or fall.
