Message from the City of Bremerton and the Downtown Bremerton Association:

The City of Bremerton and the Downtown Bremerton Association Present:

The Grand Opening Festival at Quincy Square
Featuring Headlining Performances by Grace Love and Eugenie Jones

The City of Bremerton and the Downtown Bremerton Association (DBA) are proud to present the Quincy Square Grand Opening Festival on Saturday, July 12th and Sunday, July 13th, 2025. The community is invited to celebrate the long-awaited revitalization of Quincy Square, located on 4th Street and Pacific Avenue in honor of musical legend and civil rights trailblazer Quincy “Q” Jones, who discovered his lifelong love of music in 1940s Bremerton.

Jones often shared the story of how, as a boy, he and his friends snuck into the Bremerton Armory hoping to snag a lemon meringue pie. Instead, he stumbled upon a piano and was so captivated by it that he knew instantly: “This is what you’re going to do for the rest of your life.” Today, Quincy Square—with its piano-inspired design—stands as a tribute to his enduring legacy in music, film, and uniting people through art.

This vibrant, family-friendly celebration will mark Quincy Square’s debut as a cultural and creative hub for Bremerton and beyond. We are thrilled to feature headlining performances by powerhouse soul singer Grace Love and acclaimed jazz vocalist Eugenie Jones, bringing their incredible talent and energy to the main festival stage.

Thanks to our partnership with the Black Night Market, over 60+ vendors, artists, and small businesses will activate the street in an open-air market environment full of music, food trucks, art installations, and creative experiences. The businesses along 4th Street, who have shown unwavering resilience throughout construction, are encouraged to join the festivities by spilling out onto the newly widened sidewalks.

Join us at 12 PM on Saturday, July 12th for the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, a special moment that will honor the visionaries and community members who made this transformational project possible.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can also enjoy live music, spoken word, and cultural performances on Quincy Square’s new permanent bandstand, designed to provide a dedicated space for community performances, open mics, and smaller-scale artistic activations.

In a heartfelt 2019 letter to the Mayor, Quincy Jones shared:

“Bremerton has always held a special place in my heart as it was where I first discovered what would be my life’s passion, music.”

While he hoped to return to see the square completed, Quincy Jones sadly passed away in November 2024. We are deeply grateful to his family for their continued support. Judge Richard Jones, Quincy’s brother, joined local leaders at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, 2025, to honor his brother’s life and legacy.
